Rihoy & Son was appointed as the main contractor for GreenAcres, a former hotel which was converted within one year into a specialist 47 ensuite bedroom dementia care home.
It was a tight timescale but completion of this complex conversion was achieved on time, despite having to overcome many obstacles during the works. Working within the existing footprint of the original building, much of the internal structure was demolished. Large quantities of asbestos were removed and new internal fire walls constructed. Complex rewiring, plumbing and the installation of fire systems and nurse-call systems were all carried out, whilst fully complying with the stringent build requirements for dementia care homes.
Two lifts were installed, the roof covering was replaced completely, and the external walls were insulated with a render coat system. The grounds within which GreenAcres sits were completely re-landscaped with brick paving pathways, planters and gardens enclosed by fencing, creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents and their visitors to enjoy.
