Le Vieux Jardin was designed and built as a project partnership between the Guernsey Housing Association, the States of Guernsey’s Committee for Health & Social Care, and the Committee for Employment & Social Security.
The £5m project consists of 20 one bedroom flats, staff accommodation, and 8 bungalows specially designed for those with autism. These properties will have life-changing benefits for those currently forced to move to the UK to receive specialist treatment, who will now be able to receive it locally.
All properties are built to a high energy efficiency, to reduce heating costs, and the bungalows are specially sound insulated to create calmer surroundings.
There is also a sensory garden and sensory gym on site to provide stimulation and activity.
The project has received widespread acknowledgement and acclaim as a much-needed housing development, which provides affordable housing solutions to actively improve the lives of local people with autism, and their families.
